CAMPBOX privacy policy
CAMPBOX is a UK-focused family camping planning service. This notice describes the current free web app. All planning tools are available without a paid subscription from this public site.
Information you provide
When you register, CAMPBOX receives the name and email you provide through its secure account service. You may also save trip details, packing lists, meals, shopping items, equipment, family jobs and family-sharing information.
Why information is used
Account and trip information is used to provide and synchronise the service, perform the contract you request, protect the service from misuse and support legitimate operational needs. Where consent is required—for example, selecting a photo—you choose whether to provide it.
Photos and FitScan
FitScan accesses only the photo you select. The photo is sent to OpenAI for the requested visual analysis and is not added to your saved trip. Avoid including people, addresses or other unnecessary personal information in the image.
Campsites, maps and weather
Search terms and approximate place coordinates are sent to OpenStreetMap-compatible search services and MET Norway to return campsite and weather information. CAMPBOX does not create a location history or use this information for advertising.
Storage and retention
A device key, trip plan and preferences may be stored in browser storage. Registered and shared plans may also be stored in CAMPBOX’s database while the account or shared family remains active. Operational records are kept only as long as needed for the service, legal obligations and dispute prevention.
Sharing and international processing
Information is shared only with providers needed to operate authentication, hosting, storage, campsite search, weather and photo analysis. Some providers may process data outside the UK under their own safeguards and terms.
Your UK data rights
Depending on the circumstances, UK GDPR rights include access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection and data portability. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. Use the support page to make a privacy request.
Security and deletion
CAMPBOX uses access controls and secure hosted services, but no online system is risk-free. Account deletion is available in Account → Privacy & data. A family owner must resolve other connected members before a shared family can be removed.
Children
CAMPBOX is intended for adults organising family trips. Children should not create their own accounts.
